If you’ve ever wondered whether line dancing is for you — let me, put your doubts to rest. It's fun, it's social, it's surprisingly energetic… and it's one of the easiest ways to kick-start your love of dance. But don’t just take my word for it — come try a class and experience it for yourself!
I first caught the dance bug in Tamworth clubs early 2000's at the Australian Country Capital Music Festival. Liking it but afraid to actually try it properly. I only realised it very recently when I actually tried my hand it properly. There’s something about the rhythm, the freedom, and the connection with people that just sticks with you. When I moved to my current town and saw there were limited opportunities for all-round dance instruction, I felt compelled to change that. And so began Fiesta Loca Central Queensland — a place to bring people together, regardless of experience, background, or age, to enjoy the joy of dancing.

So Why Line Dancing?
Line dancing has a charm all its own. It doesn’t need a partner, it suits all fitness levels, and it’s a seriously good time. You don’t just learn steps — you laugh, stomp, clap, and often leave class with a smile you didn’t even know you had. It’s music, movement, and mateship all rolled into one.
Our line dance crew at Fiesta Loca CQ is a blend of absolute beginners, brave returners, and experienced steppers. We all come together once a week to learn new routines, dust off old ones, and share a laugh. I’ve even been corrected mid-class by some of my sharper-eyed students — a humbling reminder that every class is a two-way street, and that passion runs deep among our dancers.

What to Expect in a Class
Each session kicks off with a warm-up and a quick recap of the previous four dances — we work from most recent back to the earliest. Then we launch into something a little trickier. That “main course” of our lesson usually spans 2–3 weeks, giving everyone time to master the parts and build confidence. We always wrap up with something lighter, easier, and fun — to send you home smiling.
What makes my classes different? For starters, I don’t just teach line dancing. My background spans Latin, swing, and wedding dance instruction too. So whether you’re keen on Salsa, looking for a first-dance routine, or just want to find your groove, there's a crossover point for you here. I also sneak in little technique tips I’ve picked up from other dance styles — those clever tricks that make stepping in or out of a line dance feel smooth and effortless.

Real Feedback, Real Fun
After the first two weeks of teaching line dancing at Fiesta Loca CQ, I ran a feedback survey. The answer was clear and simple: “Keep it like it is.” That’s the kind of feedback an instructor dreams of — especially when it’s followed by louder clapping, more stomping, and big belly laughs echoing across the room.
It’s amazing to see how people open up in class. Some who were shy at first are now calling out steps, dancing with gusto, and even helping new students feel welcome. That’s what line dancing does — it brings people together and builds community one shuffle at a time.
