Stepping into the world of line dancing in Gladstone has been nothing short of exhilarating. While I may still be reasonably new to running a business & teaching here at Fiesta Loca Central Queensland, it’s clear that the dancers in our community are seasoned pros when it comes to having a good time. The energy in each class is infectious—so much so that I often find myself pausing for just a moment, waiting for the laughter and chatter to settle before we dive into the next set of steps. It’s a small price to pay for such a lively, welcoming atmosphere, and honestly, it’s has become one of my favorite parts of teaching.

One thing that always gets a laugh is my habit of starting routines on the left foot—apparently, it was a bit of a running joke among our regulars! But that’s the beauty of our classes: we keep things light, fresh, and fun, always reviewing what we’ve learned while mixing in new routines to keep everyone on their toes. We know life gets busy and not everyone can make it to every class, but when you do show up, you’re guaranteed a great time and a warm welcome.

Since I began teaching Line Dancing over the last year, I’ve quickly gotten to grips with a variety of beginner routines. Admittedly, many of them start off in similar ways, which can make memorizing each one a bit of a challenge—especially without the music to cue me in! But that’s all part of the learning process, and I’ve found that the more fun we have, the faster we all pick things up.

So far, our class has mastered a fantastic lineup of routines: the ever-popular Cupid Shuffle, Good Time, Cruisin, the classic Electric Slide, the high-energy Cowboy Hustle, and the crowd-pleasing Footloose (not a beginner routine). We’ve also danced our way through Bar Song (Tipsy), Better When I’m Dancing, Boot Scootin’ Boogie, Fireball, Wagon Wheel, Give Me Shivers, and the lively Tush Push. Each routine brings its own flavor and challenge, and it’s been a joy to see everyone’s confidence and skills grow with every session.

At Fiesta Loca, we’re all about community, inclusivity, and having a blast while learning something new. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just curious to give line dancing a try, there’s a place for you in our class. Come join us, make some new friends, and let’s keep the good times alive on the dance floor!
